IDTA 02102: Fire Protection on Railway Vehicles published
Fire protection data goes digital
The Industrial Digital Twin Association (IDTA) has published version 1.0 of the submodel template "IDTA 02102 Fire Protection on Railway Vehicles". The submodel was developed with the support of the Railway-X project and aligned with consortium partners and further IDTA members from the rail sector.
Why it matters
Instead of passing certificates on as documents that each recipient processes again, companies along the value chain share fire protection data in one machine-readable format within the Asset Administration Shell. Each company consolidates its data once, and the data space carries it to the partners who need it. Every partner works from the same source, creating a continuous, trusted and automated data flow.
What the submodel does
The submodel provides a standardized framework within the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) for all information required for fire protection on railway vehicles. It covers manufacturer information, fire protection certificates, requirement sets as well as report references and reports. This enables harmonized data exchange between suppliers and railway manufacturers and makes it easier to maintain and update fire protection data throughout the entire lifecycle.
How Railway-X uses it
Within Railway-X, the submodel is the basis of the use case Paperless Documentation: fire protection certificates are provided in machine-readable form and exchanged via the Railway-X data space along the supply chain.
The specification as well as template and example files are freely available.
